ASTi announced new product with sound tuning for civil aviation authorities worldwide to “Level D”-certify multiple full-flight simulators.

Advanced Simulation Technology inc. (ASTi) announced a new product built with first-rate sound tuning for civil aviation authorities worldwide to “Level D”-certify multiple full-flight simulators, March 10.

ASTi designed its Telestra system to meet the needs of high-fidelity simulation systems used in military and commercial aviation. The system aims to streamline the sound tuning process, optimizing time to certification, and it includes automated speaker equalization to optimize the frequency response of simulator speakers and establish a reference baseline for model tuning. The system also provides dynamic control over audio and sophisticated filtering during tuning sessions.

Telestra employs a full-synthesis approach to sound, offering engineers the ability to manage all aspects of a simulator’s sound system. It integrates an advanced one-third octave spectral analysis API with customer electronic qualification test guide (eQTG) systems.

The system has allowed some commercial jet aircraft simulators to complete sound tuning in as little as two days. As simulators near certification, scheduling challenges can arise. On-site sound tuning can be costly, and delays may increase expenses.

Remote tuning, conducted over the internet, provides a flexible option to reduce costs and avoid travel. Remote sessions have been successful in achieving eQTG test-case plots required for certification.

ASTi engineers have recently conducted remote tuning sessions for various fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft simulators, with programs following accelerated schedules and achieving Level D certification.

ASTi has delivered these simulators to the U.S., Finland, Switzerland, Australia, China and the United Kingdom.
