Funcheon Honored as Transportation Corps Distinguished Member of the Regiment
TOPICS & CATEGORIES
Richard A. Madrid Jr., Vice President of Global Services for Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS), announced that the U.S. Army Transportation Corps has selected retired Command Sgt. Maj. William “Bill” Funcheon as a Distinguished Member of the Regiment (DMOR) for its Class of 2023. Funcheon is the ECS Site Lead/senior training and development specialist in the ECS Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise (CRE) program.
The Transportation Corps established the DMOR award to maintain its legacy and promote cohesiveness and esprit de corps by recognizing individuals who are serving, and have served, the corps with distinction. Each year, the Chief of Transportation and Regimental Command Team recognize three distinct categories of excellence for individuals and units who represent the best of the Transportation Corps. The award is open to Transportation Corps military officers at the rank of lieutenant colonel and above, enlisted personnel at the rank of master sergeant and above, and warrant officers at chief warrant officer four and above. Individuals who have been honorably separated or retired from the corps, as well as civilians who have distinguished themselves by outstanding service and performance on behalf of the corps are also eligible.
“We’re extremely proud of Bill for receiving this prestigious honor,” Madrid said. “This DMOR award highlights his outstanding contributions to the Transportation Corps throughout his career. Bill’s contributions enabled the corps to succeed, modernize to deliver future needs, and train future forces to meet any and all demands asked of the Transportation Corps.”
In honor of Funcheon’s achievement, the Transportation Corps hosted the 2023 DMOR ceremony on May 15 at Wiley Hall at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia, but Funcheon was unable to attend as he was on temporary duty travel supporting the CBRN CRE Vibrant Response 2023 Exercise at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
