The Army recently announced multiple changes to its senior acquisition leadership to occur this summer, which will impact Team Orlando.

Members of Central Florida’s modeling and simulation community will notice these changes most locally in form of a new chief at U.S. Army Program Executive Office Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI).

Brig. Gen. Christine Beeler, commanding general for Army Contracting Command (ACC) in Redstone, Alabama, will transfer her command to Maj. Gen. Douglas Lowrey in a ceremony scheduled for June 14. Lowery is the current commanding general of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Soon afterwards, Beeler will become the new program executive officer for PEO STRI in Orlando, Florida, taking over for Ms. Karen D. H. Saunders, SES.

Beeler’s senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Julie Saorrono, will retire after 29 years of service when she transfers her duties to Command Sgt. Maj. Rachel Harris in a change of responsibility ceremony, also scheduled for June 14. Harris serves as contract operations sergeant major at ACC, and previously completed an overseas tour in Vincenza, Italy, as the 414th Contracting Support Brigade command sergeant major.

Col. Jason Jefferis, currently the senior leader for contracting activities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C., will take over as ACC’s deputy commanding general for overseas operations, also in June.
